A Message from Delfina:
I am a resident of Wheatley Heights for more than 25 years! I have seen the beauty and challenges in my community! I have been a member of the Mothers Club of Wheatley Heights, Inc. for more than two consecutive decades! I have enjoyed the MCWH family picnics, the youth activities at the HHHCLibrary, and the Annual Women’s luncheon just to name a few! I have learned a lot from the MCWH, as to how to be an advocate for my children. I realize I needed to participate as a parent in various school activities, attend sports events, PTA, evening meetings, and go to the library with my children. I have made friends along and supported others! Wow, time flies because my children are adults and I still care about the youth who are in our community today!
For one term that is equivalent to two years, I was the Second Vice President for the Mothers Club of Wheatley Heights, Inc. As 2nd VP, I supported the Youth Committees and facilitated programs that involved children. For more than two decades as a MCWH member, I was in the background organizing and interacting with families, children, community members and school officials. I take pride in maintaining open communication with the Concerned Fathers Association, Inc., the Half Hollow Hills Community Library and Half Hollow Hills School District.
The MCWH have collaborated with different organizations to present annual programs like Kwanzaa, Martin Luther’s King, Jr. and Black History at the HHHCLibrary in Dix Hills. We have viable committees to address the needs of our families in our community! We are here to listen and support one another with words of encouragement, proactive solutions and participate in community activities.
In June 2018, I was elected President. I served, as President Elect until August 31, 2018. I had several meetings and participated in various events and activities with mothers and their children. On September 1, 2018, I officially became President of the Mothers Club of Wheatley Heights, Inc. with the new Executive Board Members. My philosophy is that each member has an individual gift to build new ideas and work together! Collectively we thrive to be relevant, effective and purposeful to meet the needs of our children and families in our community! I believe the MCWH represents “Beautiful Individual women who are stronger together, making a difference in the lives of others.”
During my presidency, I want us to reflect, recharge, respect and pursue our responsibilities as women who can make a difference! I do not have all the answers, but I do believe the Mothers Club of Wheatley Heights, Inc. is a group of extraordinary women who have warm hearts, fellowship, creativity, intellectual knowledge on various subjects and kindness, who want be the positive imprint in someone’s life!
Sincerely,
Delfina
President of the Mothers Club of Wheatley Heights, Inc.
